Isolation Vs Compound exercises for weight loss

After doing some research I came across something that I think would be helpful to many people that are trying to lose fat while at the same time building muscle.

There are two main types of exercises, Compound and Isolation.

Isolation exercises are exercises such as bicep curls and leg extensions. These exercises activate a singular muscle group.

Compound exercises are exercises such as barbell squats, dead lifts and pull ups. These exercises require the use of multiple muscle groups at the same time and as a result require the body to exert more energy than an Isolation exercise.

So for people that are trying to lose weight (especially belly fat) I would recommend focusing more of your time in the gym on compound exercises.

Here is a useful article on the compound exercises and how they help with fat loss
