      Just a note before I start: crunches, push ups, situps, etc will not help you loose weight! THEY WILL MAKE YOU GAIN MUSCLE!!!!


      What you really need to do if you want to loose

      weight, is make sure you do these VERY important

      things:


      1. Have no more than 1,000 calories a day! Look on

      every nutrition label of what you eat, and always buy

      low calorie foods!


      2. Exercise! But not for muscles! People get loosing

      weight and gaining juscle confused. The gym is good

      for tonning up muscles, but to loose weight, you

      really have to run, jump, swim, and anything else that

      really makes you sweat, sweat, sweat!!!! Exercise for

      AT Least 1-3 hoursa a day!


      3. EAT HEALTHY! Some people skip breakfast and lunch

      and then have a huge dinner right before bed. That is

      absolutely the worst thing you can do for your immune

      system! You will gain weight and will NEVER be able to

      loose it because your immune system will be screwd up!

      Make sure you have a large breakfast with no (or

      little) breads. Like one egg, 2 turkey sausages, and

      one waffle. Cereal and milk is good, but with 1% milk

      and no sugery cereal like lucky charms, fruit loops,

      etc.

      Have a medium sized lunch, no hamburgers, fries, or

      soda. A salad or tofu, or chicken strips (not fried)

      or anything else yummy and helathy you can think of.

      But still watch the calories.

      Always remember to have dinner BEFORE 6 PM! A light

      soup with toast, or low calorie mac and cheese and a

      salad is good. Maybe a veggie low calorie lasgna.

      Also, dont EVER eat meat after 7 pm! Especially pork

      and beef. Chicken is ok, but eat it no less that 3

      hours before bed.

      No snacking on chips, chocolate, or any calorie

      filled, starurated fat drenched, snacks during the

      day! If your craving for a snack, dried fruit or

      regular fruit or special K bars are good. BUT NO

      ENERGY BARS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE TONS OF SUGAR!!!!


      4. Go to bed early! Did you know that the more you

      sleep, the more fat you burn? Thats why you are always

      lighter in the morning, by a pound or so.


      5. HAVE WILLPOWER!!!! You have to know when to tell

      yourself to stop! Sometimes you need it to tell you to

      go exercise, sometimes not to eat donuts and cake at a

      birthday party.


      There is a very fine but important difference between eating your normal daily value of food, and eating healthy. People are just genetically born with either a week or strong metabolism. Slim people need to eat all types of food to keep from not loosing to much weight and bing unhealthy, and people with weak metblosms need to eat less grain, meat, and excersise way more that other people with strong metablosms.

      Yes. You can still lose fat just by lowering your calories and doing basic weight lifting. Cardio helps, but doing just weight lifting will do the job too.

      in answer to the exercises, look up HIIT. works very well. although if you've never done previous gym work probably not recommended.


      the way to lose weight is to find out your daily caloric intake needs then drop off by a few hundred pounds. this way you'll keep it off if you eat properly.

      yeahh im pretty skinny too, and im toned and have a 4-pack. i found that doing various types of sit ups and crunches to great. also, kickboxing (great core and muscles building), hot yoga (i find difficult! but its worth it), or pilates (great for toning and flexibility) is great, too! cardio exercises are good to warm up, but don't do too much..20-30 min is good. Also drinking a lot of water is good for building core muscles, and eating heathly...

      I do a dance cardio video- you can get one for cheap on Amazon. Basically any of them will do and they are fun too. Just exercise for 40-60 minutes a day- it doesn't have to be all at once. It also is good if you alternate exercise routines week by week or your body will get used to it and you will hit a plateau.

      The best way to maximize your weight loss is to create a caloric deficit through diet, and then add on the cardio through wii.


      Say for instance, hypothetically speaking, if you eat McDonald's fries everyday and a 16-20oz soda, cut that out of your diet daily. So that would be cutting out around 500 to 750 calories daily from the food you eat. Honestly in my opinion, the easy but hardest way to lose weight is to just cut out your most favorite food and your most favorite juice or soda that you drink daily). Whatever food or juice/soda you drink everyday, cut out half of the amount you eat of it. This is a good starting point without going "cold turkey" and going through withdrawls. Yes, food affects your brain just like drugs or alcohol.


      Then whatever cardio or weights you do is just adding to your already weight loss that will occur

      In the home exercises are a little harder. If you have a treadmill that'd be great because running really is the best form of exercise when you're looking to burn fat and calories. Or if you have a dog take them for a walk or run every day but that's not inside the home.


      If you have stairs trying running up and down them or just going up one down one really fast for as long as you can, i used to do that and it can get your heart working. You can also use youtube and look up home cardio exercises, google too. The internet is GREAT for that stuff.

    Hi, I heard that in order for cardio exercises to be truly effective, you have to be "out of breath" if you know what I mean, after you do the exercise to truly lose weight and strengthen the heart. The thing is, I'm always out of breath ont he treadmill after I do it, but it hurts my ankles severly. Whenever I use the elliptical, I can work out on a pretty high resistance for an hour non stop but I never feel that I'm exhausted or out of breath. What I'm asking is if the elliptical training that I'm doing is actually helping me lose weight (it usually says i burn 600 calories if I do it for an hour), or if it's just not being as effective as a treadmill?

      No, no, no. You don't have to out of breath to lose weight. And be sure to get adequate rest when your muscles hurt so bad.

      If you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight.


      ie, if you eat 2000 calories per day and burn 2500, you will lose 1 pound every week.


      the average person burns 1000-1500 calories per day, just being alive.


      power walking can burn 200-500 calories per hour.

      exercise bike can burn 200-600 calories per hour.

      swimming can burn 100-800 calories per hour.

      Also, try not to eat within 3-4 hours of going to sleep.

      Well it looks like you got the first Three, also mountain climbers are really good, if you don't know what they are then just google them, lunges, squats, walking up stairs, and push ups. I suggest that you pick like 4 things for the day, and then do like 20 reps each for all 4 and then take a 2 min break and repeat about 5 times, then follow it up some light jogging in place.

      This might not be the answer you wanted to hear but there really isn't a "best" time and way to do your workouts in order to burn fat. How and when you workout should be determined by your preference and what your daily routine is like. You can do both weightlifting and cardio in one day, I do that all the time. You can also do one day cardio and one day weightlifting if that's what fits into your schedule. If anything, doing cardio and weightlifting in one day would on paper be more effective because that's doing twice the physical activity in one day so you're burning more calories. But, again doing more isn't always better so doing both doesn't mean more effective either.


      As long as you do physical activity every day and diet well you' ll be fine. Good luck

    I'm trying to lose 25 pounds. I'd like to lose 1-2 pounds a week. I'm already on a healthy diet, and I've been doing between 30 min to an hour of cardio (running on the treadmill) everyday for the past couple weeks.


    I was wondering if I have to do more exercises (squats, sit-ups, push-ups, etc) in order to lose the weight?


    If it helps, I'm trying to become skinnier in my stomach area, thighs, and upper arms.

      To look good and not "skinny fat", yes you need to do muscle building.

      Sorry, but there's no real way to say. It all depends on what kind of exercise you do, how long you do it and whether or not you go for a calorie reduction in your diet in the process.


      You have a goal, all you need is direction, the rest will take care of itself.


      A good rule of thumb is between 1-2 pounds a week so you're looking at 5 to 10 weeks depending of course on what you do.

      face the truth dear...when you are overweight,the only way to get slim & stay slim is a lifestyle change...workout 5 days a week and calorie shift your meals...you dont need pillsat all!natural stuffs like apple cider vinegar and green tea can help you for good...you dont hav to count calories...cardio alone will push you into plateau stage very easily...always incorporate toning workouts...the simplest toning will be either 20-30 mins of yoga or pilates 6 days a week...you can learn these stuffs online nowdays at no cost...

      What you need is 20 to 40 minutes of vigorous physical activity.


      It could be swimming, running, biking or really anything that keeps the heart rate up.


      I would not recommend mixing up machines unless you can go from machine to machine with no breaks.


      Cardio work-outs are my least favorite and I have tried to get around this part of my workout since I started, but they are necessary if you wish to lose fat while you are gaining muscle.

      Hey,

      Just a note before I start: crunches, push ups, situps, etc will not help you loose weight! THEY WILL MAKE YOU GAIN MUSCLE!!!!


      What you really need to do if you want to loose

      weight, is make sure you do these VERY important

      things:


      1. Have no more than 1,000 calories a day! Look on

      every nutrition label of what you eat, and always buy

      low calorie foods!


      2. Exercise! But not for muscles! People get loosing

      weight and gaining juscle confused. The gym is good

      for tonning up muscles, but to loose weight, you

      really have to run, jump, swim, and anything else that

      really makes you sweat, sweat, sweat!!!! Exercise for

      AT Least 1-3 hoursa a day!


      3. EAT HEALTHY! Some people skip breakfast and lunch

      and then have a huge dinner right before bed. That is

      absolutely the worst thing you can do for your immune

      system! You will gain weight and will NEVER be able to

      loose it because your immune system will be screwd up!

      Make sure you have a large breakfast with no (or

      little) breads. Like one egg, 2 turkey sausages, and

      one waffle. Cereal and milk is good, but with 1% milk

      and no sugery cereal like lucky charms, fruit loops,

      etc.

      Have a medium sized lunch, no hamburgers, fries, or

      soda. A salad or tofu, or chicken strips (not fried)

      or anything else yummy and helathy you can think of.

      But still watch the calories.

      Always remember to have dinner BEFORE 6 PM! A light

      soup with toast, or low calorie mac and cheese and a

      salad is good. Maybe a veggie low calorie lasgna.

      Also, dont EVER eat meat after 7 pm! Especially pork

      and beef. Chicken is ok, but eat it no less that 3

      hours before bed.

      No snacking on chips, chocolate, or any calorie

      filled, starurated fat drenched, snacks during the

      day! If your craving for a snack, dried fruit or

      regular fruit or special K bars are good. BUT NO

      ENERGY BARS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE TONS OF SUGAR!!!!


      4. Go to bed early! Did you know that the more you

      sleep, the more fat you burn? Thats why you are always

      lighter in the morning, by a pound or so.


      5. HAVE WILLPOWER!!!! You have to know when to tell

      yourself to stop! Sometimes you need it to tell you to

      go exercise, sometimes not to eat donuts and cake at a

      birthday party.


      There is a very fine but important difference between eating your normal daily value of food, and eating healthy. People are just genetically born with either a week or strong metabolism. Slim people need to eat all types of food to keep from not loosing to much weight and bing unhealthy, and people with weak metblosms need to eat less grain, meat, and excersise way more that other people with strong metablosms.

      Wii bowling isnt a very good excercise all your doing is moving your arm back and forth.

      It is not absolutely necessary, but it will be extremely slow to burn the fat off. Unless you are on a very restricted diet and you do exercises using free weights, it will be possible for you to lose weight. You might be losing muscle rather than fats though. Thus it is highly recommended to do your cardio to drop the bodyfat, 3 to 5 times a week, 45 minutes to an hour per session. You can alternate low intensity cardio with high intensity cardio, so long your body can recover with it. You would have to moderate your eating as well. You will not be able to lose the fat if you eat more than what you burn.

      weight loss has more to do with the "kind" of food you eat and very little to do with exercise.


      you could eat 1 slize of pizza and get 300 calories - very unhealthy.


      you could eat a plate full of Stir-fry Chicken and get 300 calories - healthy.


      find out how much calories your body needs just an approximate amount and eat a balanced diet to stay within that range( again approximately).


      if u eat a lot of carbs, then do more cardio - it is more effective to run outdoors than treadmills(explanation on this can be another topic of discussion in itself).


      that being said here are good excercings for weight loss:

      -Lift light weights and do higher number of repetitions(like 15 reps of 3 sets - light weight slow repititions shed weight but you must go for the 3rd set thats where the burning happens when you body is aching and wants to give up)

      -do ground excercies like pushups, glutes, situps.

      -do crunches


      don't do the same thing every day. SURPRISE your body with different excises and different rep patterns. one day do bicep curls for 15 reps 3 sets. after 3 days when u do bicep curls do 10 reps 5 sets.


      take good rest, get good sleep.

      Can it happen, sure. Will it happen? Probably not. You will see very good results the first couple weeks and then it will slow down, but that's normal.


      Sculpting exercises? Weight train, and do cardio. Eat properly.


      Weight train??? BUT IM A GIRL... I DONT WANT TO GET BIG AND BULKY.


      You won't, so don't worry about it. You don't have enough testosterone or eat enough food to put on a significant amount of muscle. You can put on some however, which will help raise your resting metabolic rate.


      Sculpting exercises... I don't even know what that is. Your muscle can either get bigger, stay the same size or get smaller... You will get more visible muscles by losing fat.


      Simple huh?

      Those exercises are great to tone the muscles, but not necessarily to lose fat. You definitely need to add cardio into your routines for maximum results.

      Jumping rope burns a bunch of calories and tones your legs, butt, arms, chest, and back at the same time!

      I'd say do two different types of cardio (ex: running + biking for 20 minutes apiece), and then every 3 or 4 weeks drop one or both of the exercises and add in new ones. For example, replace the running with jumproping, and/or the biking with light weight lifting. Never let your body adapt to your workout, because that minimizes results.
