Put Down The Junk Food And Get Fit! ~ Weight Loss And Fitness

By Coach Todd

Do you feel like it is too hard to get into shape? Learning how to achieve your goals is the key to success. You should use the advice here to find your end goal.

Lifting weights is not the only thing that goes into fitness. In reality, all you need to maintain all the muscles of the body are six simple exercises: the push-up, the pull-up, leg raises, squats, handstand push-ups, and bridges.

You will want to protect your knees, and to do this, you will want to strengthen your thighs. Avoid the most common injury, which is torn muscles and ligaments along the back of your legs. Make sure to exercise hamstrings and quads to make your knees safer. Leg extensions, leg curls, squats, and lunges are all exercises that will work the upper leg muscles.

Seek a variety of workouts so that you stay interested and committed. Switching things up will allow you a chance to discover classes you love and give you reason to keep heading back to the gym. Try a dancing class or spinning. Consider Jazzercise or boot camp. You should remember that after you do one, you will be eventually losing weight.

Your core supports your whole body and needs to be strong. Nearly every exercise and physical task you perform requires good core strength to prevent injury. One proven method for building your core is doing situps. Sit-ups also increase how far you can turn from side to side. This forces your abdominal muscles to work much harder for longer periods of time.

Record all of your daily activity in a detailed fitness diary. Note your regular workouts as well as any extra moving you do. Invest in a pedometer so you can track your steps throughout the day and add that information in as well. This type of written accountability will help you understand your total progress as you move towards your end goal.

Motivation is needed by most people in order to stay on track with weight loss program, so they need to see results if they are going to continue. Instead of obsessing about the number on the scale, use some clothes that are a size smaller than your current size to gauge your progress. If you try the clothes on weekly while you are dieting, you will have physical evidence of the positive changes you are making in your life.

Making sure you have the right equipment for the workout is important and your shoes are no exception. The best time of the day to try on shoes is later in the day as your feet swell from walking and standing. Allow a half-inch of room between the end of your shoe and your large toe. If you can wiggle your toes, the size is right.

By taking the advice you learned here to heart, you will find yourself well down the path to fitness sooner than ever.
